Board Officers

Lynn Jennings

Chair
Ms. Jennings joined Catholic Medical Mission Board, Inc. (CMMB) in July of 2019. She is responsible for championing a comprehensive, strategic, and integrated approach to secure, retain and grow revenue through corporate, foundation, organization, U.S. government and multi-lateral grants and partnerships. Prior to joining CMMB, Ms Jennings served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Hispanic Scholarship Fund where she managed the corporate partnership portfolio. Previously, she worked at Project HOPE, an international Global Health non-profit organization.

Margie Hernandez

Vice Chair
Margie Hernandez is a proud Cuban-American who has been a pharmacist since 1992. She is an active member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and is committed to promoting social justice for all, particularly within the Latino community. Margie is the Hispanic Language Coordinator on the Executive Board of United Women in Faith for the Virginia conference of the United Methodist Church. She sits on the board of directors for Frederick County Department of Social Services and on the board of Just Neighbors. As a leader of Construyendo Puentes (Building Bridges) at Braddock Street UMC in Winchester, Margie works with local nonprofits to empower, nurture, and educate families in the Latino Community. In her spare time, Margie enjoys bird watching, gardening, reading, and a daily afternoon cafecito.

Jennifer R. Miller, DMS, PA-C

Secretary
Jennifer W. Miller, DMS, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant and Associate Professor in the Division of Physician Assistant Studies at Shenandoah University. A proud graduate of Shenandoah’s PA program herself, she has been practicing clinically in Family Medicine and Pediatrics since 2005. A native of Winchester, Virginia, Dr. Miller is deeply committed to the education and mentorship of future healthcare providers. She currently serves as the Director of Clinical Education at Shenandoah University's PA Program, where she oversees the clinical phase of the PA curriculum and works closely with students, preceptors, and faculty to ensure high-quality experiential learning. Her research is in Assessing the Evolution of Empathy in Physician Assistant Students During Clinical Training. Beyond her academic and clinical work, Jenn is a devoted mother of three and active member of the Winchester community. She is passionate about gun violence prevention, wellness, nutrition, and fitness, and finds joy in helping others live their healthiest and most fulfilled lives. In her free time, she enjoys hot yoga, gardening, baking sourdough, long walks with her partner, and cheering on her kids at sporting events.

Brad Rogers, MHA

Treasurer
Brad Rogers, MHA, is chief operating officer of Valley Health Medical Group and vice president of Valley Physician Enterprise. He joined the hospital system in August 2021. Rogers has over 10 years of senior healthcare management experience with a focus on physician practice management. Prior to joining Valley Health, Rogers was vice president of operations at Lexington Medical Center in South Carolina. During his 25-year healthcare career, Rogers has built high-performing teams to assist physician practices in maximizing patient experience and optimizing physician efficiency and productivity.

Colette Sabbagh, MD

Board Member
Colette joined Sinclair Health Clinic’s leadership in 2020 and is a long-time advocate for patient-focused and culturally competent care. Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Colette currently serves the community as a pediatrician at Pediatric Associates of Winchester. Her big heart has her volunteering not just on the clinic’s board, but also volunteering every week in the Clinic. Colette has a long history of service to the community. She has served as Medical Director and on the board of directors of the Make A Wish Foundation in Maine, and served on the Board of Directors of the Maine Discovery Museum, Winterport Open Stage Community Theater, Penobscot Theater Company and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.

Vice Admiral Daniel Abel, USCG, Ret.

Board Member
Vice Admiral Dan Abel (retired) served over 37 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, culminating as its Chief of Operations. Other senior roles included leading all Coast Guard units in the Northeast U.S. and later forces in Alaska and the emerging Arctic. Interagency and joint military roles included Chief of the COVID Joint Coordination Cell for the Secretary of HHS, Director of Operations of U.S. Southern Command, and Deputy Director of Operations at U.S. Northern Command. Flying helicopter and jet aircraft, he commanded Coast Guard Air Stations in San Francisco and Cape Cod. He holds degrees from the Coast Guard Academy, the National Defense University, and the College of William and Mary. He is President of the consulting firm “Status Paratus,” and a Senior Fellow for National Defense University and RAND Corporation. Admiral Abel is an Eagle Scout.

Kerryann Kenney

Board Member
Kerryann Kenney, is a lifelong champion for those marginalized in society, Kerryann volunteers with Church World Services, specializing in navigating the immigration system to reunify Afghan families. In 2020, during the Covid-19 crisis, she founded and led the Vaccine Angels grassroots team, facilitating over 4,000 vaccine appointments nationwide. Their impactful work garnered recognition on the Dr. Oz show and received commendation from the Governor of PA. Outside her board responsibilities, Kerryann can be found contributing to the community at Oakstone Pizza, bussing tables. She cherishes quality time in downtown Winchester with her family—husband Bill and children Angelina and Max.

Debra L. Purrington, J.D.

Board Member
Ms. Purrington has decades of experience in the law of trusts and estates and fiduciary administration. As Chief Fiduciary at the Bank of Clarke County, Debra continues a longstanding tradition of accomplished fiduciary services. She is responsible for trust regulatory compliance, oversees all trust and estate administration, mentors a successful team of experienced trust and investment professionals, and develops fiduciary systems, products, and services. Debra has counseled many fiduciaries and led a segment of U.S. Trust, Bank of America, where she earned national recognition for fiduciary excellence.

Kris Maddalena

Board Member
Kris joined Valley Health in September of 2023 and proudly serves as the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer for Winchester Medical Center. She is an Arkansas native and has served at several healthcare organizations throughout her career. Prior to joining Valley Health, she served as Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer for Arkansas Children’s Hospital and has held several leadership positions throughout her career at AdventHealth, SSM Health, and University of Florida Health. Kris holds her Doctorate of Nursing Practice University of Arkansas and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is a certified Green Belt Lean Six Sigma, and has received board certification as an ANCC Nurse Executive. She is a mom of two adult daughters, Jules and Amanda and she loves the outdoors and spending time exploring with her golden retriever, Sally.

Marie Restrepo, RN

Board Member
Marie holds a BSN from The Catholic University of America and has an extensive background in acute care nursing. Her experience includes working in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Coronary Care Unit at the University of Virginia Hospital, and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Harrisburg Hospital in Pennsylvania, where she also served as the Patient Education Coordinator for the inpatient cardiac program. Marie has been a dedicated community volunteer for many years, contributing her time at the Free Medical Clinic alongside Dr. Sinclair when it was located in the former fire hall, teaching childbirth classes, and helping to lead the Valley Health COVID vaccine clinic during the pandemic. Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Marie enjoys swimming, hiking, and spending time with family.

Bethany Sisson-Gomez RN, MBA

Board Member
Bethany Gomez-Sisson is a dedicated healthcare professional with over a decade of experience spanning clinical care, research, and business development in local hospital systems, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, and international corporations. She began her career as a registered nurse after earning her degree from Shenandoah University. Later, she obtained an MBA from George Washington University, which enabled her to broaden her expertise from clinical practice to business operations and development, aligning clinical excellence with strategic goals at the corporate level. Throughout her clinical career, Bethany exemplified compassionate patient care, both at the bedside in acute care facilities and in patients' homes as a hospice nurse. She later expanded her role in clinical operations by managing FDA trials for Alzheimer's research, before transitioning into corporate business development, where she focused on improving access to high-quality care. Outside of her professional life, Bethany values spending time with family and friends, cherishes her beloved dogs, and continually seeks opportunities to enhance her knowledge and skills. Her commitment to healthcare access fuels her ambition to serve on a medical board, where she hopes to advocate for policies that promote equitable and compassionate care for all.

Terry Sinclair, MD

Medical Director, 1986-2017
Emeritus, 2017-2021
Dr. Terry Louis Sinclair passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021. Terry leaves a lasting legacy of healing and community. Terry was one of the original volunteers who established the Free Medical Clinic in 1986 to help neighbors facing financial hardship attain great health care. He volunteered as the Medical Director for over 30 years and was named Medical Director Emeritus in 2017 and the Clinic was renamed to honor him and his service. Terry graduated from Johns Hopkins and obtained his MD from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After completion of his surgical residency at University of Missouri, he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War giving him first-hand insight and training in trauma surgery. He moved with his family to Winchester in 1974.

Terry served as President of Winchester Medical Center staff and then after a 25-year career as a Surgeon. He was recruited as Senior VP for Medical Affairs for WMC and the Valley Health System, serving for 17 years. He has also served many years as Medical Director for Shenandoah Valley EMS, Chairman of VA State Trauma Committee and Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury, President of numerous professional organizations, Presbyterian elder and Sunday school teacher for over 20 years, Board member of Winchester Rotary, Our Health, United Way and on numerous Committees including Winchester 2020 Future Planning and All American Community. He loved spending his time with his wife, Diane, three children, their spouses, and his eight grandchildren.
